I am an Assistant Professor in Strategic Management Area at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur, India with specific research interest in the field of family business. Earlier, I served as Associate Director at the Thomas Schmidheiny Centre for Family Enterprise, Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, India. With 22 years of diverse experience in industry, academics, and family business, I bring rich insights to executive education programs and family business clients. I am the Vice-Chair of the Asian Study Group of Family Firm Institute (Boston), the premier institution in the field of family business. I have been studying various dimensions of family businesses; my research interests include professionalization, governance, next-generation leadership, values, and philanthropy. I have Chaired family business tracks at prestigious international academic conferences including the Strategic Management Society and the International Family Enterprise Research Academy.
I have helped several small and mid-sized Indian family businesses in dealing with their professionalization, governance, and leadership development challenges. I have conducted executive training sessions for family business members on: Developing Next-Generation Leadership for Family Business, Importance of Values and Tradition for Next-Generation Family Business Leaders, Personality Assessment to Identify Job Fit in Family Business, and Family Business Philanthropy.
I have published several articles in top peer-reviewed journals, and contributed chapters to multiple research handbooks on family entrepreneurship. I have authored several family business case studies that are published by Harvard, Ivey, and Sage Publishing. These case studies have been taught in prestigious institutions including, MIT, UT-Austin, and Boston College. I also write articles on family business topics for several renowned publications, including Campden FB, FFI Practitioner, The Economic Times, Business Standard and Business Today.
I hold the Advanced Certificate in Family Business Advising (ACFBA) from Family Firm Institute, USA. I have a PhD in Management from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India. I received the Outstanding Reviewer Award at Family Enterprise Research Conference-2019 in Burlington, USA. I am the recipient of 2020 FFI-GEN Fitzpatrick & Francis Family Business Continuity Foundation Scholarship and 2018 FFI-GEN de Visscher & Co. Scholarship.
